North Carolina A&T State University, in partnership with Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing(Md.), received a $2.3 million, five-year grant from the National Institute of Nursing Research to create a Center for Health Disparities Research. The effort is one of eight partnerships funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research that joins traditional universities with historically Black universities to conduct research on disparities in health care.
The center will promote the research of culturally sensitive nursing interventions, aimed at improving care for underserved population. Research will focus on the areas of health promotion, symptom management and domestic violence.
