Anheuser-Busch Foundation Endows $1 Million Chair at Howard University - Brief Article

WASHINGTON

The Anheuser-Busch Foundation, through a gift of $1 million, has endowed the Anheuser-Busch/John E. Jacob Chair in the Howard University School of Business.

Dr. Jacob, who received his bachelor's, master's and doctor of laws degree honoris causa from Howard, has served as executive vice president and chief communications officer of Anheuser-Busch since 1994. In his role, Jacob is responsible for a broad range of worldwide communications activities including public relations, employee communications and the company's efforts to promote responsible alcohol consumption.

"This chair will help the bright, visionary young people at Howard take advantage of the amazing opportunities business offers. When they succeed, we will all benefit," Jacob says.

"I can think of no more appropriate role model for leadership in the global marketplace than Dr. John E. Jacob," says Howard University President H. Patrick Swygert. "He is a masterful strategist and has the appropriate global perspective to sustain Anheuser-Busch's leadership in the international marketplace. We are proud to call him a son of Howard University."

Before joining Anheuser-Busch, Jacob served as president and CEO of the National Urban League. Earlier in his career, he also ran Urban League affiliates in Washington and San Diego.

The Anheuser-Busch Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the $13 billion St. Louis-based brewing corporation.
