Black Issues in Higher Education, May 8, 2003

The Art Center College of Design (Calif.) received a $1 million endowed gift from Wallis Annenberg, vice president of the Annenberg Foundation, to establish the Wallis Annenberg Legacy Scholarship for Photography to encourage and recognize students of exceptional talent.

Clark University (Mass.), received a $1.5 million donation from Dr. Mary Despina Lekas, a 1949 graduate of the school. The money will be used to establish the first endowed chair in the school's biology department.

The College of Business at Southern University and A&M College (La.) will be awarded $50,000 from Procter & Gamble for curriculum development integrating courses in enterprise resource planning systems, which provide the ability to make better supply chain decisions and create virtual value chain models.

The College of New Rochelle (N.Y.) received a $50,000 grant from the Altman Foundation to benefit the John Cardinal O'Connor campus for its School of New Resources.

Moraine Valley Community College (Ill.) received a $15,000 grant from the Illinois Community College Board to allow college staff to be trained and begin initial implementation of the computerized Degree Audit Reporting Systems (DARS).

Penn State University received a $10 million gift from retired Pittsburgh architect H. Campbell "Cal" Stuckeman and his late wife, Eleanor Stuckeman, which will cover nearly half the cost of a new building to house Penn State University's School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.

The University of Georgia received a $1.5 million endowment to support a crop genomics scholar. Through genomics, researchers can identify genes responsible for important aspects of plant growth.
