Following are the results from the April 21st edition's poll question posted on the Black Issue web site.

Q: Educators seek to teach Black children to speak mainstream English, but do you believe Ebonics is unfairly stigmatized?

Yes. Though Black children need to learn mainstream English to navigate their way in society, Americans should be more socially accepting of Ebonics given the unique history of Africans Americans in the U.S.

52.63%

No. To gain greater acceptance in American society, African Americans should do all that they can to eliminate Black dialect from their speech.

21.05%

Other response. A yes or no answer simplifies the issue too much.

3.01%

Unsure.
