Cable & Wireless has appointed Nortel Networks as the systems integrator and a prime contractor for the expansion of its global network. Initially, Nortel will function as the systems integrator for Cable & Wireless' European network expansion which when completed will provide high-speed integrated communication services to over 40 cities in 13 countries. Nortel's total agreement is expected to be worth over US$400m over a two-year period, with the European expansion worth almost US$150m.
