Lucent Technologies and Philippines-based service provider Globe Telecom have signed a general purchase agreement under which Lucent will supply a wide range of infrastructure equipment and services to Globe Telecom over a five-year period.
Under the agreement Lucent will initially expand the 5ESS international gateway switches it provided to Globe Telecom earlier. With this expansion Globe aims to add capacity to its local and international traffic and to strengthen connectivity between its fixed line and mobile networks. The project, worth over USD8.6m, is expected to be completed in July.
