A council register office in the south of England is offering to broadcast wedding ceremonies live on the Internet.

Brent Council is offering the service at no extra cost and expects the idea to catch on, according to the BBC. The first wedding broadcast from the register office took place on 24 August at 1130 BST and was the first in England and Wales to be transmitted live over the Internet.

Pictures from the register office are updated on the council's web site every 15 seconds and in the future the council hopes to show ceremonies with real-time pictures and sound.

The site is located at http://www.brent.gov.uk/reg.
