Alcatel has won a contract to provide an optical communications network to Deutsche Telekom AG.
Under the contract, which is part of a long-term framework agreement between the two companies, Alcatel will supply its SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) and DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technologies, to enable Deutsche Telekom to build a high-speed platform to meet the growing demand for Internet protocol- and ATM-based broadband communications.
