Ericsson`s new LMDS MINI-LINK Broadband Access System (BAS) has received FCC certification.

LMDS MINI-LINK BAS is designed to enable operators to provide carrier class voice, leased line services and real broadband data interconnections to and between office buildings at very high speeds, with the symmetrical LAN interconnection more than 20 times faster than traditional T1 leased lines according to the company.

In other news, Ericsson has launched Mobile Internet Advertiser (MIA), its new network-based advertising tool that is designed to broadcast media ads to Internet subscribers based on their individual preferences.

MIA will also mean Internet services can be delivered free or at a lower than usual cost through funding from the targeted advertising. The service can also be made available to mobile phone and personal digital assistants.

The advertisements will initially be delivered through WAP or other wireless IP networks, with the service also to be offered on next-generation wireless networks such as GPRS and UMTS when these networks are operational.

MIA is expected to be released commercially in 3Q2000.
