Bouygues Telecom and Alcatel have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on the development of third generation digital mobile communications systems in France.
The partners will combine Alcatel's expertise in UMTS systems with Bouygues' understanding of the market and end-user needs to jointly develop the UMTS market. Alcatel will also help Bouygues to build a submission for a UMTS license to the French telecomms regulation authority.
