The digital media and Internet software developer Sonic Foundry Inc has unveiled its new proprietary audio compression codec called Perfect Clarity Audio.
The new technology is designed to allow users to compress music in a format that will not sacrifice the fidelity of the original source audio recording. Supporting both 16-bit and 24-bit audio, the technology can be used to compress audio files in 2:1 ratios and up to 5:1 ratios.

Perfect Clarity Audio is currently included in Sonic's SIREN Jukebox 2.0 tool and it will also be incorporated into all of the company's future product releases. In addition Sonic will licence the codec to companies for use in software and hardware applications.
