The Finnish telecomms systems supplier Tecnomen has introduced E-Mail Reader, an IP-based service for voice access to e-mails.
The new system is designed to provide users of regular mobile phones with audio access to e-mails, allowing them to listen to, answer and manage their messages through the phone. Targeted at operators, E-Mail Reader can be integrated into any existing IMAP4 e-mail server or LDAP directory server as well as with any text-to-speech technology.

E-Mail Reader, which is a component of Tecnomen's eZONER service platform, is currently deployed in pilot installations. It will be available for delivery later this year.
