TELECOMWORLDWIRE-12 April 2001-North America dominates e-marketplace services market - study (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

The top ten e-marketplace service providers control almost half, or 47%, of the market's revenues, according to new research by IDC.

The study shows that North America represents the largest region for e-marketplace services, but other parts of the world are expected to increase their spending significantly faster. IDC estimates that e-marketplace services revenues in North America will increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of less than 20% through 2005 while Asia/Pacific and Western Europe will each have CAGRs of over 50%.

The market intelligence company also believes that service firms not among the top ten list will, in the future, have an opportunity to increase their revenue share as the market turns its attention towards small and medium sized businesses outside North America.

The leading service firms by revenue are currently PricewaterhouseCoopers, IBM Global Services and Cap Gemini Ernst and Young, says IDC.
