Macromedia Inc has made available a developer release of the Macromedia Flash Player for the Microsoft Windows-powered Pocket PC platform.

The new software is designed to enable the delivery of a range of content, including entertainment, learning and business applications, to Microsoft Pocket PC devices such as Compaq's iPaq, Casio's Cassiopeia and Hewlett-Packard's Jornada.

The developer release can be downloaded free of charge from http://www.macromedia.com/software/flashplayer/pocketpc/download/.> In other news Macromedia has released the Macromedia Flash Player 5 for the Linux and Solaris platforms. The web content software has until now only supported the Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
