The German wireless communications specialist Systemonic has acquired a range of products as well as intellectual property belonging to the RF Networking business of US-based Raytheon Company.

The assets purchased by Systemonic include a 5GHz RF chipset. The company intends to match the chipset with its own family of CMOS baseband integrated circuits to offer end-to-end solutions to original equipment manufacturers in the WLAN sector. Systemonic also plans to sell baseband and RF products in other markets such as the point-to-point and point-to-multipoint fixed wireless arenas.

As part of the agreement Raytheon has acquired an equity interest in Systemonic and it will receive a licence to the current generation RF technology for use in the defence business. In addition Systemonic and Raytheon intend to collaborate on product definition and as channel partners.

Financial terms were not revealed.
