TELECOMWORLDWIRE-8 November 2001-SysOpen unveils SMS-based database access system (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

The Finnish IT company SysOpen Plc has launched a software package that enables a normal GSM mobile phone to be used to add information or retrieve it from standard databases such as Access, SQL Server, DB2, Oracle and Excel.

The software uses the SMS message facility to carry out the task. With the system remote personnel can for instance have instant access to their company's database at any time, while salesmen might use it to extract information from the database on the latest prices and availability.

The system also allows information to be extracted from electronic documents such as invoices, delivery notes and statements and then to be sent to the user via SMS messaging.

Availability and pricing were not revealed.
