TELECOMWORLDWIRE-8 November 2001-Hurricaneseye acquires network infrastructure from Eurocall (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

The UK telephony and billing infrastructure services provider Hurricaneseye Ltd has signed an agreement to acquire a figure 8 network from Eurocall Ltd for GBP1.6m.

The figure 8 network stretches from London to Manchester, passing through Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol and it has 40 separate points of presence. The network also includes three switches from Nortel Networks and it utilises Ipsaris' infrastructure.

The transaction will be equally paid for by Hurricaneseye's owners, the Internet/telecomms company Affinity Internet Holdings Plc and the Anglo-American energy company Powergen UK Plc.

After the deal closes, Hurricaneseye will work towards a transfer of Powergen's telecomms service to the network followed by the migration of Affinity's breathe telecom, which was acquired from Atlantic Telecom in August.
