Telecomworldwire, August 23, 2002

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-23 August 2002-New Kazaa worm spotted by Kaspersky Labs (C)1994-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Antivirus company Kaspersky Labs has spotted a new virus replicating in the wild through the Kazaa file swapping network.

The Duload worm could give a hacker access to the victim's computer system, according to the company. It operates by modifying the infected computer's system registry and disguising multiple copies of itself as files that other Kazaa users might like to download. The copies created can have names such as Free Porn.exe, Win An Xbox.exe, Soldier Of Fortune 2 Mutiplayer Serial Hack.exe and Britney Spears Dance Beat.exe.
