TELECOMWORLDWIRE-3 December 2002-Yahoo gives an online Christmas shopping station to remote Scottish village(C)1994-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Internet Portal Yahoo! has installed an online Christmas shopping station in Inverie in north west Scotland.

The company claims that the initiative is designed to let the 60 residents of Inverie conduct their Christmas shopping online and have their gifts delivered to the village. The station has been set up in the village's only pub - The Old Forge - which is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the most remote pub in mainland Britain.

Inverie is reportedly the only village in mainland Britain that is not connected to the national road network.
