In June 2001 there were 92,500 cable connections and just 28,000 DSL subscribers yet by September 2002 there were 158,200 broadband subscribers using cable and 151,300 using DSL. The growth of DSL subscribers has been put down to the fact that they are more widely available than cable connections and there is more competition between DSL providers.
