TELECOMWORLDWIRE-3 December 2002-Nokia demonstrates IP mobility services(C)1994-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Finnish telecomms solutions provider Nokia demonstrated today (3 December) person-to-person IP mobility services using the Nokia IP Multimedia pilot system at the CDMA Development Group (CDG) conference in San Diego, USA.

Nokia said that the Nokia IP Multimedia pilot system provides standardized IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) functionality, which would enable person-to-person IP connections between terminals.

The IMS would also allow operators to provide new person-to-person services, including interactive gaming, "see what I see" video telephony services, and end-to-end simultaneous voice, video and chat sessions between terminals, Nokia added.

Nokia expects to release the IMS core network infrastructure in 2003 and IMS capable terminals in 2004.
