A new battery that reportedly only takes 15 minutes to recharge has been developed by Rayovac Corp, a US-based battery maker.
The battery is intended by the company to convince more consumers to buy rechargeable batteries and comes as a push to develop new products to drive sales. Suggested applications include MP3 players, cameras, power tools and other products.
A spokesperson for the company has claimed that using the best existing technology batteries can currently be recharged in about an hour.

The release date has been set for mid-to-late 2003. The price should be under USD10 for a charger yet the cost of the battery would rise sightly from present prices, according to the company.
