TELECOMWORLDWIRE-5 March 2002-IDC predicts no reprise for European fixed-line voice telephony market (C)1994-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Market intelligence and advisory firm IDC has stated that it expects the revenue decline for the European fixed-line voice telephony market to continue to decline over the next five years.

IDC goes on to claim that tariffs will continue to fall faster than traffic increases, bringing about negative growth in many markets.

Currently, revenues from mobile, Internet and datacomms services means that overall telecomms services revenues across Europe are still growing yet reliance on traditional voice services would not be a wise move for the majority of European telecomms companies, according to IDC.
