According to new research from market intelligence and advisory firm IDC European e-government spending is set to increase in 2003.

The company expects e-government spending in Europe to grow by 13% to USD2.8bn in 2003. This is reportedly down to governments putting into place systems for the electronic deployment of services, e-business platforms for public procurement and systems for connecting organisations.

A spokesperson for the company stated that the UK and Germany have fallen behind Finland, France, Spain and Italy in the sophistication of their e-government activities.
