The Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA) has selected broadband TV solutions developer Thirdspace to supply a broadband services platform.

CYTA will use the platform to deliver broadband multimedia services - such as video-on-demand and TV channels - to its subscriber base in Cyprus. A spokesperson for CYTA has stated that the company may add a personal programming guide, pay-per-view services, high speed Internet access, TV web access and a gaming application in the future.

The platform is based on Thirdspace's Open Video Server and Open Video Applications.

Thirdspace will deploy the platform to approximately 10,000 subscribers in 2003. A trial is currently underway with a number of selected CYTA customers.

The cost if the implementation was not revealed.
