MIT to begin free online courses - Brief Article

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has announced that it is to start offering learning content for free over the Internet.

The organisation's OpenCourseWare project will offer courses in subjects such as anthropology, biology, chemistry and computer science. Resources that can be used in the courses will include web pages of information, streaming video lectures, seminars and experiments.

A spokesperson for MIT has stated that over the next ten years all of the organisation's existing coursework will be moved on to the Internet.

Courses are set to begin on 30 September 2002.
