TELECOMWORLDWIRE-30 January 2003-IDC reveals decline in European telephony market(C)1994-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com
Market intelligence and advisory firm IDC has revealed that the Western European fixed-line voice telephony market is going through a transition period.
The main reason for this is said to be continuing consolidation in the service provider community along with major restructuring primarily caused by high debt levels. According to IDC this has resulted in a market with fewer players that are more focused on core strengths.

Revenues in the fixed-line voice telephony market have stabilised as minutes of traffic have increased - particularly in the business sector - while the rate of tariff reductions has slowed, IDC said.
