BioMed Central, an Open Access publisher, intends to consult with librarians and funding bodies about future mechanisms for funding Open Access publishing.
The consultation will reportedly be carried out in the form of a workshop, which will take place in London on 31 August. BioMed Central has said that it intends to publish the conclusions of the meeting in September.

Points for discussion reportedly include the payment model for Open Access, including membership and/or article-processing charges as well as payment mechanisms for Open Access and the differences and similarities with subscriptions. The consultations will also focus on the role of the library and the funding body in the Open Access world as well as other topics.
According to BioMed Central, 16 representatives from libraries and funding communities have accepted an invitation to the one-day consultation meeting.
