TELECOMWORLDWIRE-14 July 2004-Danish security company warns of four holes in IE(C)1994-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Secunia, a Danish data security company, has issued a warning over four unpatched holes in Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser.

According to Secunia, an attacker can use the holes to bypass the browser's security zones, distort the dialogue windows' text and add links to the favourites folder.

A hacker using the nickname http-equiv has demonstrated how an attacker can combine a hole with the unsecure Windows Shell: function to take control of a system, according to Secunia. Secunia has reported that the holes are found at least in the IE 6 version with the SP1 update in Windows XP and that the company considers the problem to be very serious, reported the Finnish IT news service digitoday.
