Information technology and network solutions company SI International, Inc. (NASDAQ: SINT) has announced that it has been awarded a 3-year task order by the US Agriculture Department to develop a web-based application that improves the tracking of international imports and exports, and domestic interstate movements of live animals and animal products across the United States.

The web-based application is aimed at providing the Veterinary Services community with information regarding sources of animal and animal product movements in order to prevent, control and/or eliminate animal diseases and to monitor and promote animal health and productivity, claims the company.

According to SI, the task order would be worth USD6.8m to the company, if the government utilized it over its three-year life.
