Qiao Xing Universal Telephone, a manufacturer and distributor of telecommunications products in China, has revealed that sale and purchase agreements have been signed by its subsidiary Huizhou Qiao Xing Communication Industry (HZQXCI).

Under the agreements, HZQXCI is to supply up to 30,000 units of CDMA Wireless Cityphone sets for four sub-branches of China Telecom in Yunnan Province. The CDMA Wireless Cityphone, used mainly by China Telecom and China Netcom in China, uses the 3G frequency band and is a mobile wireless communications terminal product. It offers the same airtime rate and one-way charge system as the Little Smart Phone but uses CDMA technology instead of PHS.

The first shipments of the CDMA Wireless Cityphones to Yunnan Province are expected around the middle of September and orders this year are expected to total up to USD18m. According to Xing, there are also talks under way with other local communications operators, including China Telecom's Guizhou branch.
