The Swedish space equipment supplier Saab Ericsson Space said on Friday (1 July) that it had received an order for a carbon fibre structure for a telecommunications satellite from Alcatel.

The product is a four-metre carbon fibre pipe which will form the "backbone" of the Chinasat-9 satellite.

No financial details were disclosed.

Saab Ericsson Space is jointly owned by Saab and Ericsson.
