BT Infonet, a provider of global communications services, has announced the launch of a new Internet-based SWIFT connectivity option for financial institutions in remote locations.
BT Infonet's ISP-local loop (ISP-LL) service enables access to SWIFT's secure IP network by leveraging a local loop between a local Internet Service Provider and the nearest BT Infonet access point. The new offering is available immediately in 21 countries worldwide.

With ISP-LL, BT Infonet manages the installation, on-site configuration and maintenance of the equipment and network based firewalls necessary for connectivity. The service is as secure as traditional SWIFT options because it shares the same SWIFT standard managed security components, BT Infonet claims.
