TELECOMWORLDWIRE-17 November 2005-InfoTrends/CAP Ventures forecasts camera phone shipments(C)1994-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com
A camera phone and photo messaging forecast from InfoTrends/CAP Ventures has revealed that global camera phone shipments are expected to continue to increase, growing from 370m units this year to 847m in 2009.
The report also forecasts a 43% CAGR in global camera phone prints, and a projected doubling of photo messaging revenue growth, between 2005 and 2009. The number of photos taken, printed and shared is expected to increase as more people purchase and use camera phones, resulting in extra revenue for digital photofinishers and wireless carriers.

Significant improvements in the image quality, optics and lenses offered by camera phones, and the removal of interoperability barriers between different network carriers, are partly responsible for the increases.
InfoTrends/CAP Ventures said that while eight megapixel camera phones are now available, they are likely to appeal in the main to specialist consumers, with the three megapixel models being selected by mainstream users.
Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) has been the top region for 2005 camera phone sales but a move in the regional share of shipments is expected as camera phone takeup continues to grow in China and other Asian countries.
