A multi-million pound, five-year contract has been awarded to Applinet plc, a systems integrator and network solutions provider in the UK, by the media group Telegraph Group.

The Telegraph Group selected Applinet to design and implement an end-to-end converged voice, data and multimedia network solution for its new headquarters in London.

The contract includes the provision of a next-generation contact centre and multimedia applications and will provide remote access to systems and file copy for the group's editorial teams. It will also enable full use of digital technology for readers and other audiences and is expected to provide cost savings and improvements in efficiency for the Telegraph Group.

According to Applinet the solution offers a high-throughput, secure and resilient networking infrastructure, ensuring the group is prepared for existing and next-generation multimedia applications, such as IP telephony and video conferencing/streaming. It incorporates voice and multimedia communications technology based around the Enterprise Voice portfolio from Nortel and a Contact Centre application secured via Nortel's Multi-Layered Defence portfolio at multiple points.
