Opal Telecom, a telecomms solution provider and subsidiary of The Carphone Warehouse Group plc, has signed an installation and support contract with Huawei Technologies Co, Ltd, a telecomms network solutions provider.
Under the terms of the contract, Huawei will install, commission and provide support services for an MSAN solution across Opal Telecom's access network. In the first year, up to 500 sites will reportedly be commissioned as part of a local loop unbundling initiative.

According to the company, Huawei's UA5000 MSAN and Quidway 6506R data communication products will provide integrated broadband access and form part of Opal Telecom's new core data infrastructure. No financial details were disclosed.
