fixITlocal, a UK network that offers service and support to small businesses from a local specialist IT reseller, is making a range of software packages available on a rental or subscription basis.

According to the company, a range of software packages will be available through the fixITlocal Pay Monthly Software service, including accounts software from MYOB, as well as human resources, project management and CRM applications. The e-bcm credit checking service, which is part of fixITlocal's existing offering, will also be available through the rental service. Part of the packages on offer will be available with free monthly trial periods and with pay-as-you-go options. In addition, there will also be a number of special offers in during the initial launch period, the company said.

The services offered by fixITlocal enable businesses to use the applications even when they are off-line. Client versions of packages are downloaded onto customer systems so that they can be used independently of broadband connections and users only need to go back on line within a pre-set period of time to continue using the software in this way.

The company is making the service available through an agreement with Rentsoft, a provider of Software as a Service (SaaS) applications. No financial or pricing details were disclosed.
