Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR), a IT service provider, announced on Wednesday (21 February) that CIGNA HealthCare, a provider of medical benefits plans, dental coverage and pharmacy benefits, has signed an agreement with the company to use Compuware Covisint's hosted IT infrastructure solution.
Compuware said the IT infrastructure solution would be used by CIGNA for standardising and automating the exchange of clinical information between the carrier and its contracted health care providers.

The new approach is reportedly designed to help simplify communications and alleviate the administrative burden of exchanging clinical information with providers. It is expected to transform the paper-based utilisation review processes into an electronic environment.
