TELECOMWORLDWIRE-25 January 2007-D&E purchases fibre optic network and two contracts from AFS(C)1994-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

D&E Communications Inc (D&E) (Nasdaq:DECC), an integrated communications provider in eastern and central Pennsylvania, has revealed it has bought a 26 mile fibre optic network and two contracts from Access Fiber Solutions Inc (AFS), a telecomms service provider and Competitive Access Provider (CAP) based in Pennsylvania, in the US.

D&E has acquired two contracts to provide Gigabit Ethernet Service to the West Shore School District and the Middletown Area School District in central Pennsylvania. D&E said the acquisition of the fibre network serving the two schools expands its facilities-owned footprint in the greater Harrisburg market.

AFS confirmed the transfer of the telecomms fibre optic network, which services the central part of the state, specifically the two school districts, to D&E. It said the high-speed network was established during the last few years to service the educational needs of the school districts and said the network transfer completes the phase of its business plan.

D&E said the acquisition will enable it to serve the students and staff of the two school districts and to seek extra customers in the market.
