TELECOMWORLDWIRE-26 January 2007-O2 Germany deploys Netopia's NBBS platform(C)1994-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

The TR-069 Netopia Broadband Server (NBBS) service management platform from Netopia Inc (Nasdaq:NTPA), a provider of broadband service assurance solutions, has been deployed by mobile telecomms provider O2 Germany to manage and support the introduction of broadband customer premises equipment (CPE).

O2 Germany, which has around 11m mobile customers and is moving into fixed broadband and converged services, selected the NBBS platform to help with the move, providing reliable architecture, scalability and multiple vendor CPE support.

NBBS supports various DSL Forum specifications, such as TR-069 and TR-104, and offers standards-based architecture with the scalability to support millions of devices, with a zero-touch installation process. It also enables the remote management of initialisation and configuration of CPE's embedded software and allows O2's network operations and support agents to manage and support the CPE network.

The operator is using the platform to manage the deployment of DSL gateways and related IP equipment, enabling services such as VoIP to be provided and allow for the management and support of its growing CPE base. O2 Germany said the platform enables it to make cost savings, increase revenues through new broadband offerings and ensure an easy broadband service installation for customers.
