A systems contract worth DKK17m has been awarded to Thrane & Thrane, a manufacturer of terminals and land earth stations for global mobile satellite and radio communication, by KDDI, a Japanese communications company and service provider of Inmarsat airtime.

KDDI has opted to replace its current equipment in Yamaguchi, Japan with new Inmarsat-C Land Earth Station hardware. It has also selected the latest hardware from Thrane & Thrane to upgrade its existing Inmarsat MPDS Home Land Earth Station.

Thrane & Thrane, which has designed, developed, manufactured and sold satellite access stations since 1990, said the systems are due to be delivered this autumn.

Thrane & Thrane has installed more than 150 Inmarsat Land Earth Stations to date.
