Visto, a provider of secure mobile e-mail, has announced the launch of Visto Mobile 5.7, the latest edition of its Visto Mobile messaging platform.

The company said that the new offering delivers "anywhere access" to Internet-based e-mail accounts such as AOL, Gmail, MSN Hotmail and YahooMail! as well as calendar and contact information.

In addition to offering access to leading Internet portals, Visto has also has further enhanced its Easy Setup feature to enable an on-device setup of mobile e-mail.

The company said that Visto Mobile 5.7 includes a number of features including: iPortal, a new web-based repository of contacts and calendar entries; iDAC, a desktop-based software enabling synchronisation of MS Outlook/Outlook Express calendar and contacts between a desktop PC and the iPortal; and Smart Notifications, messages automatically sent to the e-mail inbox to inform users about service status, software updates and roaming.

Visto Mobile 5.7, which will be available from mobile operators worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2007, also features expanded handset support for Java-based phones.
