A commercial ad-funded music video service has been launched by UK mobile operator 3 UK, in conjunction with entertainment company Sony BMG Music Entertainment (UK) (Sony BMG), powered by Rhythm NewMedia, which sells and delivers targeted and personalised video ads based on demographic data collected.

3 UK said the service is available to all its customers and is accessed via its music homepage, enabling users to watch their favourite music videos on their mobile phone. It confirmed the service is supported by short, targeted video ads and is offered to customers with no data charges.

According to 3 UK, the agreement with Sony BMG and Rhythm NewMedia enables its users to receive high-quality content on their mobiles. The new service complements the existing 3MusicStore and will also provide links to buy products.
