TELECOMWORLDWIRE-16 April 2008-MACH chosen by Swisscom to implement WRIX-d(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

MACH, a provider of business processes to optimise roaming profitability, has completed the testing and implementation of Wireless Roaming Intermediary eXchange-d (WRIX-d) with Swisscom, a telecomms company in Switzerland.

According to the company, Swisscom outsourced all WRIX elements to MACH based on its specialist expertise and capabilities within this field. The company will generate and send required wholesale billing data to Swisscom's roaming partners, to be used as the basis for settlement, as part of the WRIX-d service.

The WRIX standard, split into three elements covering RADIUS Interconnect, Data Clearing and Financial Settlement, was created by the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) and selected vendors including MACH to ensure consistency in the interfaces between different roaming partners. The WBA network has expanded to over 26 worldwide operators enabling WLAN roaming in over 85,000 hotspot locations globally.

The financial clearing and settlement principles of WRIX reportedly include advanced settlement procedures and the exchange of electronically generated and processed data, enabling pre-invoice balancing prior to invoice generation and financial settlement.

No financial details were disclosed.
