The PacketMAX family of products reportedly delivers key elements required to extend wireless broadband services to a wide range of users, ranging from governments, large enterprises and public-sector organisations to multi-tenant buildings and residences, using a single, standards-based platform. Aperto's PacketMAX 5000 base station can support and operate both the IEEE 802.16-2004 and IEEE 802.16-2005 WiMAX standards simultaneously, as well as licensed and license-exempt frequencies.
It is anticipated that deployments in 3.65GHz and 4.9GHz bands, as well as 5.8GHz and 5.4GHz bands, will result in the widest adoption of WiMAX as the preferred broadband wireless technology in US, Aperto said.
No financial details were disclosed.
