TELECOMWORLDWIRE-28 April 2008-Continental Airlines widens testing of "paperless" boarding pass system(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Continental Airlines is to expand the pilot of its Paperless Boarding Pass system to three more airports.

The system was launched in Houston in December 2007. It works by allowing passengers to receive their boarding passes electronically, in the form of an encrypted bar code sent to a mobile phone or PDA. These are then scanned at the airport by Transportation Security Administration officials.

The pilot is being rolled out to Washington's Ronald Reagan National Airport, Newark International Airport and Logan International Airport in Boston.
