US communications holding company AT&T Inc (NYSE:T) announced on Wednesday (2 April) that the company has launched its 3G wireless broadband service in Madison, Wisconsin, US.

AT&T's 3G wireless network is now available in the city of Madison and also in the areas of De Forest, Oregon, Stoughton, Sun Prairie, Verona, Waunakee and other local communities.

With this expansion AT&T customers can reportedly use their 3G handsets to access feature-rich wireless content, including videos, games, pictures and the latest music, entertainment, news and weather, through MEdia Net, the company's mobile Internet portal. Also, customers can view razor-sharp clips through CV, an on-demand streaming video service.

The AT&T 3G network also offers its customers AT&T LaptopConnect, a connection for laptops with DSL-like speeds , with the ability to access the Internet, their company's intranet or corporate e-mail from anywhere within the 3G network.

AT&T said that it will expand its wireless 3G network in the US this year to over 80 additional cities. The planned expansion is expected to deliver AT&T 3G services to nearly 350 US markets by the end of 2008, including the 100 largest cities.
