US communications holding company AT&T Inc (NYSE: T) announced on Thursday (3 April) that the company has acquired prime B Block spectrum in the US Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) 700 MHz FCC auction.

With this acquisition AT&T's spectrum holdings position, along with the acquisition of Aloha Partners, reportedly gives the company capacity to meet customer needs as it moves to higher-speed 4G services.

AT&T said that upon final award of the auctioned B Block spectrum, AT&T's 700 MHz spectrum will cover 100% of the top 200 markets and 87% of the US population.

Financial details of the acquisition were not available.
