TELECOMWORLDWIRE-9 April 2008-SingTel selects AIRCOM's ASSET tool for mobile WiMAX network(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

SingTel, a Singaporean telecomms operator, has selected AIRCOM International (AIRCOM), an independent provider of end-to-end network optimisation consultancy and tools for IP and cellular networks, to provide the cell planning tool for its Mobile WiMAX network.

AIRCOM said it will provide its ASSET tool to support SingTel's current GSM and UMTS network, along with a mobile WiMAX technology pack for radio planning. AIRCOM is extending its relationship with the company to support SingTel's integration of mobile WiMAX into its existing cellular infrastructure.

According to AIRCOM, the ASSET with WiMAX tool allows the planning and management of fixed and mobile WiMAX networks and is fully compliant with the 802.16e WiMAX standard. It can generate reports and statistics on network performance, operating in a multi-user environment and can plan WiMAX in detail while looking after other network technologies such as GSM, UMTS and HSDPA.

SingTel said ASSET is expected to provide the required support to meet its goals, which include incorporating WiMAX into its advanced voice and data service portfolio and managing network traffic efficiently.
