Opera Mini to be pre-installed on O2 handsets in Germany

Norwegian Internet browsers developer Opera Software ASA (OMX: OPERA) announced on Friday (8 August) that its Opera Mini browser will be pre-installed on a number of mobile handsets to be made available to German consumers through the O2 mobile service provider.

The operator is installing a branded version of the browser, called 'Internet-to-Go', on several new handset models. Two Samsung and three Sony handsets will be the first to have the software pre-installed, with the new Samsung U900 Soul, due to be launched mid-summer 2008, among these models.

In addition, owners of 12 other handset models will be able to install the software over the air, the company said.

No financial details were disclosed.
